1. Who we are and how to contact us
Vision Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church and nonprofit religious organization located in Millers Creek, North Carolina, United States. We operate the Site and our Printing Ministry (also known as Vision Baptist Press). For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), Vision Baptist Church is the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy.

We have not appointed a data protection officer because we are not required to. You may send any privacy question or request to the contact details above.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to answer you, send the literature you request, and keep the Site working well. We do not sell your personal information.
2.1 Information you give us
- Contact form. When you use our “Have a Question?” or Contact form, we collect your name, email address, the reason you are contacting us (for example, a general question, a prayer request, a sign-up for church announcements, or a Printing Ministry order or delivery issue), and the message you write.
- Prayer requests. If you send a prayer request, it may include information about you or others, including information about health, family or spiritual matters. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing, and do not include another person’s sensitive details without their permission. See section 5 for how prayer requests are shared.
- Announcement sign-ups. If you ask to receive church announcements, we collect your name and email address.
- Literature requests (Printing Ministry). When you request tracts or booklets, our order form collects the information needed to fill and ship your request, such as your name, mailing and shipping address, email address, phone number, any order notes, and the items and quantities requested. Literature is provided free of charge, and we do not collect payment card information through the Site.
- Communications. If you email, call, or write to us, we keep a record of that communication and any information you choose to include.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our web server, our website software and the analytics tools described in section 6. This may include:
- your IP address and approximate location (such as city, region and country) derived from it;
- browser type, device type, operating system and screen size;
- the pages you view, the links you click, the time and date of your visit, and how long you stay;
- the website or search term that referred you to the Site (for tract requests, this “source” information is attached to the order); and
- cookie and similar identifiers, as described in section 6.
2.3 Information from others
We receive aggregated, non-identifying reports about how people find and use the Site from Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats. Google Search Console reports show search queries and page performance in aggregate and do not identify individual visitors to us.
2.4 Sensitive information
Because we are a church, information you share with us may reveal your religious beliefs or, in a prayer request, information about health or personal circumstances. We use such information only to respond to you and to pray for and minister to you, and we treat it with care. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent when you choose to submit it, and, where applicable, in the course of our legitimate activities as a religious nonprofit body with appropriate safeguards (GDPR Article 9(2)(a) and 9(2)(d)).
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your questions, messages and requests, including prayer requests and requests to speak with the pastor;
- fill, ship and follow up on literature requests, and resolve delivery issues;
- send church announcements you asked to receive, such as service times and special meetings (you can opt out at any time);
- operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site, including preventing spam and abuse;
- understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Site so we can make it more helpful;
- keep records needed for the Church’s ministry, administration and legal obligations; and
- comply with law, enforce our Terms and Conditions, and protect the rights, safety and property of the Church, our members and others.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
4. Legal bases for processing (EU, EEA and UK visitors)
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract or steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b)): to fill and ship literature you request and to respond to your inquiries.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): to send announcements you signed up for, to use analytics cookies where consent is required, and to process sensitive information you choose to share. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): to operate and secure the Site, prevent spam and misuse, keep ministry records, and understand Site use in aggregate. We balance these interests against your rights, and you may object as described in section 10.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): where we must keep or disclose information to comply with law.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. We share personal information only as follows:
- Church leadership and volunteers. Messages and literature requests are received by the pastor, church staff and trusted volunteers who help respond and ship literature. Prayer requests may be shared with the pastor and with those who pray for the needs of others. Tell us in your message if you would like your request kept confidential to the pastor, or shared without your name, and we will honor that.
- Website administrator. Copies of contact form messages are also delivered to the Church’s website administrator, who maintains the Site on our behalf and is required to keep them confidential and use them only to support the Church.
- Service providers. We use trusted companies that process information on our behalf to host and run the Site, deliver email, and provide analytics. They are permitted to use personal information only to provide services to us. These are listed in section 7.
- Shipping carriers. To deliver literature, your name and address are given to the postal service or carrier we use.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of the Church, our members, you or others, including to report suspected abuse or threats of harm.
- With your permission. We may share information for other purposes with your consent.
6. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and tracking pixels) for the purposes below.
| Category | Examples | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | WordPress (wordpress_test_cookie, login cookies for administrators); WooCommerce (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_*); cookie consent (cookieyes-consent) | Make the Site work, remember the literature in your cart, remember your cookie choices, and keep the Site secure. | Session to 1 year |
| Order attribution | WooCommerce order attribution (sbjs_*) | Record how a visitor arrived at the Site (for example, from a search engine) and attach that source to a literature request. | Session to 6 months |
| Analytics | Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) via the Google tag; Jetpack Stats | Measure visits, pages viewed and general location so we can improve the Site. We use these reports in aggregate. | Up to 2 years |
| Embedded content | Google Maps on the Contact page; Google Fonts | Show our location map and display the Site’s fonts. Google may receive your IP address and may set its own cookies when you interact with the map. | Set by Google |
Your cookie choices. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the literature cart from working. You can opt out of Google Analytics across websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner asks for your choice. Analytics and order attribution cookies are not set unless you select “Accept All” or allow them under “Customize.” You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clicking the cookie settings button that appears at the bottom of each page after you make a choice, or by deleting cookies in your browser.
7. Third-party services, embeds and links
We use the following service providers. Each has its own privacy policy that explains how it handles information.
- Hostinger – website hosting and server logs (privacy policy).
- WordPress, WooCommerce and WPForms – website software, literature requests and contact forms, running on our own hosting account.
- Elementor Site Mailer – delivery of emails sent by the Site, such as form notifications and order confirmations (privacy policy).
- Google – Google Analytics and the Google tag (installed with Site Kit by Google), Google Search Console, Google Maps, Google Fonts, and Google for WooCommerce (privacy policy; how Google uses information from sites that use its services).
- Automattic (Jetpack) – site statistics and security features (privacy policy).
- Pinterest for WooCommerce – if connected, may share our public literature catalog (not your personal information) with Pinterest (privacy policy).
Links to other websites. The Site links to websites we do not control, including Facebook, SermonAudio, gospel radio stations and other ministries. When you follow those links, the other site’s privacy practices apply. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. As a general guide:
- Contact form messages and prayer requests: kept for as long as needed to respond and minister to you, and generally deleted or anonymized within 3 years unless an ongoing relationship makes them useful.
- Announcement sign-ups: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Literature requests: kept for up to 7 years for ministry records, shipping follow-up and legal purposes, then deleted or anonymized.
- Analytics data: kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (no longer than 14 months for user-level data) and as otherwise set by the provider.
- Server and security logs: kept for a limited period set by our hosting and security providers.
9. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, limited administrator access and regular software updates. No website or email transmission is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send highly sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers or financial account numbers, through the Site. If we learn of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities where required by law.
10. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We are glad to honor reasonable requests from anyone, wherever they live.
- Access – ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correction – ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion – ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Portability – receive information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format.
- Restriction and objection – ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent – where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Opt out of emails – use the unsubscribe instructions in any announcement email, or contact us.
- Non-discrimination – we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
How to make a request. Email visionbaptistchurchandpress@gmail.com, call 336-838-1611, or write to us at the address in section 1. Please tell us what you are asking for and how to reach you. To protect your information, we may need to confirm your identity (for example, by matching the email address or mailing address we have on file) before acting on a request. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally within 30 days under the GDPR and 45 days under U.S. state laws, which may be extended where the law allows). If we decline your request, we will explain why, and where applicable you may appeal by replying to our decision; we will respond to appeals within the time the law requires.
11. Additional information for California residents
Vision Baptist Church is a nonprofit religious organization, and certain California privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”), may not apply to us. We nevertheless provide the following disclosures and extend the rights in section 10 to California residents.
- Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (such as name, email address, mailing address, phone number and IP address); internet or network activity (such as pages viewed and referral source); approximate geolocation derived from IP address; and the content of messages you send us, which may include sensitive personal information such as religious beliefs or health information in a prayer request.
- Sources: you, your device and browser, and the analytics providers listed in section 7.
- Purposes: the purposes described in section 3.
- Disclosures for a business purpose: identifiers and internet activity are disclosed to the service providers listed in section 7, and names and addresses to shipping carriers.
- Sale and sharing: we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
- Sensitive personal information: we use it only to respond to you and minister to you, and not to infer characteristics about you.
- Retention: see section 8.
California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA). This policy describes the information we collect, how we share it, how you can review and request changes to it, how we respond to Do Not Track signals (section 16), and its effective date. We will post any changes on this page.
“Shine the Light” (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Minors in California. If you are under 18 and have posted content on the Site, you may ask us to remove it by contacting us. Removal may not ensure complete removal of all copies.
12. Residents of other U.S. states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia) may have rights similar to those in section 10, including the right to appeal our decision on a request. Many of these laws exempt nonprofit organizations; we nevertheless honor these requests. To appeal a decision, reply to our response with the word “Appeal” or contact us as described in section 18. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of an appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General.
13. Additional information for EU, EEA, UK and Swiss visitors
In addition to the rights in section 10, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement took place. A list of EU authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board; in the UK, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, so please contact us.
Providing personal information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide the information marked as required on a form, we may not be able to answer your message or send the literature you requested.
14. International data transfers
We are located in the United States, and our Site and service providers process information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. When we transfer personal information from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and our providers’ participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where applicable, or on your request for literature or a response. You may contact us for more information about these safeguards.
15. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site without verifiable parental consent, consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). In the EU, EEA and UK, children under the age of digital consent in their country (between 13 and 16) should use the Site’s forms only with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
16. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT, the Site does not currently respond to DNT signals. Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; since we do not sell or share personal information, no further action is needed.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if the changes are significant, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the updated policy.
